Terce. was the brainchild of Risa Kopp, the matriarch of the group. Along with her two oldest daughters, Lilly and Aggie Kopp, they join together in that undeniable “blood harmony”, as well as in the album concepts and songwriting. I, first, came across the group a year ago, when I heard the beautiful song ‘My Heart to You.’ Hearing it again on this album, my initial thoughts remain. The first track is called ‘Light of the World,’ and begins with just a piano and violin sound. It’s a quite mellow introduction, but soon explodes into life, as the vocals and more instruments join the production. The group describe their music as cinemericana” in style, meshing piano-driven riffs with cinematic and Americana flavours. I, certainly, got the cinematic flavour on ‘Living Dust,’ and I loved the delicate vocal delivery. There’s a sweet song of love called ‘Belong to You,’ that focusses on our relationship with Jesus. Mid-song, there are some lovely harmonies, too. The tempo increases with the brilliantly titled ‘Run With the Lion.’ At times, the vocals soar majestically, as the song reaches its crescendo. There’s almost a touch of gospel on ‘Face Like Flint’ which tells of keeping your eyes fixed on the Lord in all that you do. Musically, the trio show great skills with the simple production of songs like ‘Spirit I Need You’ and the enchanting album title track. As well as this being an enjoyable listen, many songs on the album also give food for thought. For a debut of such quality, Terce must be congratulated. Recorded in Nashville, a slap on the back must go to Dove-award winning engineer and producer, Brent Hendrich for the clarity of all the instruments and voices. The group plans to begin touring Midwest America in February, followed by more extensive touring in Summer 2023. On this evidence, their audiences are in for a treat! 10/10.
