Inspirational Cover from Philippa Hanna

A couple of weeks ago I recorded a cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ after rewriting the words with an Gospel/Easter twist. I love rewriting things in this way but never usually share them for fear of being a bit twee, or not doing justice to the original.

This idea however wouldn’t go away so I thought I’d share it as part of my ‘Inspiration 365’  YouTube blog. In the past couple of days, it’s been picked up and shared by a few social media channels and yesterday alone the video has had over 1,000,000 views and was shared 40,000 times! I’m blown away and humbled!

New Video from Philippa Hanna

Good afternoon everyone,

I’m so excited to share with you my new video for Getting On With Life!

The inspiration for the song came from the time my dad was going through chemotherapy, I realised my patience was pretty short. When a stranger pushed past me in town so forcefully it knocked me sideways, I almost called after her in anger. But in a truly a defining moment for me I realised…she might be going through something similar to me. That completely shifted my perspective and drove me to write Getting On With Life.

A Little Help for a Philippa Hanna

Philippa Hanna

If you hadn’t heard already, I’m really pleased to let you know that I have been invited to tour Europe supporting the chart topping pop quartette, Little Mix! The tour will see me supporting the band at 15 of the most prestigious venues in Europe. Nearly all of the shows are sold-out and I’ll be performing to over 50,000 people. I feel that this is most significant opportunity of my career to date and an unparalleled opportunity to share message of hope with a young audience.

In order for us to make the most of this opportunity, we’re asking for your help! We have one week before the tour starts and a mountain of costs to cover so that we can take a small team on the road (and over seas). You can get behind us, as so many people have already done through Rocket Fuel

You can buy music, merchandise, clothing, jewellery and even book an acoustic gig. My campaign closes on Friday 10th June so please do get involved if you can! Just head over to

The Review Zone – Philippa Hanna : Speed of Light @Philippahanna

Philippa Hanna 2PHILIPPA HANNA : Speed of Light.   (Resound Media)

So, after her recent tour supporting mega star, Leona Lewis. Philippa returns with her 4th album release. And, unlike her last two recordings, she returns to a more pop style, which I liken to Ellie Goulding and Pixie Lott. “Let Me Lead” is a strong opening song, that shows a lot more maturity in production than her 2009 release, “Taste.” Philippa’s voice really sounds at home with all the songs and on “Perfectly” she gets the hook just right as she leads into a great chorus. The two recent single releases “Arrow” and the title track are both bouncy, happy numbers, with modern, sequenced assembly. Meanwhile, on “Something Better”, a simple piano lends itself as the main instrument on backing. “Even Now” and “It is Well” set the focus on keeping God at the centre of your life, no matter what troubles you may be going through, with messages of trust and love. As for the closing “Run To You”, I think that this song is perfect chart material and stands shoulder to shoulder with anything Philippa’s contemporaries have done recently. As she moves out to Nashville in the near future, it will be interesting to see how her music progresses. As for this release, it’s one, tasty, pop, album.   9/10.

Exciting New Release for Philippa Hanna

Philippa Hanna 2

April 29th sees the release of Philippa Hanna’s 5th studio project Speed of Light. Fresh from her tour opening for Leona Lewis, the Barnsley-born singer has her sights set on breaking the US market as she moves out to Nashville this summer.

The production blends the pop and electronic sound of Taylor Swift and CHVRCHES, swerving away from the previous country releases. After lead single Even Now topped the iTunes Christian & Gospel chart, expectation has built up with 2nd single Arrow getting well earned spins by Richard Madeley on BBC Radio 2 and on The Mark Forrest Show. The project was recorded in Nashville with producer Kyle Lee and features a duet with Kevin Max, one third of the multi-million selling act DC Talk.

The album was funded in part by Philippa’s fans through Rocket Fuel, a crowdfunding site she helped to launch in 2014, whilst her trips to Nashville have been aided by support from BPI and UK Trade & Investment through the Music For Export Growth Scheme.

Philippa will be performing live and speaking to Clare Balding on Sunday 24th of April on BBC Radio 2.
