In America, mental health has become a major speaking point for society to rally around. We create hashtags and print t-shirts to bring awareness to the cause all while overlooking our neighbor who is struggling. We turn a phrase by “checking in on our strong friends” and conveniently bypass our own warning signs. Perhaps it is time for us to hit pause on our efforts to remain culturely relevant and truly begin Checking In with the God who completely understands the human condition.
Checking In is the second release of 2022 by poet Spoken Worth.
The single turns the camera inwards as Spoken Worth address the kaleidoscope of emotions that exist within each of us. As Spoken Worth explains, “Checking In is about how all the different emotions we have as humans are God-given and should be welcomed by one another.” He continues, “It is intended to raise awareness around mental health and how we all need to be seen, heard, and loved.”

In 2019 the whole world was hit hard with Covid and life became dramatically different. My family experienced some hard losses and went through some extremely difficult times.
The job I was working became extremely difficult and was overwhelming me on a daily basis. I was working 7 days a week and not even sleeping on Saturdays. It was starting to weigh on me and my family. Then, in may of 2020, my dad passed in his sleep. It was a devastating blow. I was definitely not prepared for that. Several months later my wife’s dad also passed. I was very brokenhearted and told God I needed His strength. I needed Him to speak to me. I needed to know He still had a plan and purpose for me.
As He often does, God spoke to me through His word.
Psalm 29 reminded me that “the voice of the Lord echoes above the sea” … “the voice of the Lord is powerful. The voice of the Lord is majestic.” This was a solid reminder that God is still real, He is still God, and He still speaks to me.

Chance Greer is a singer/songwriter and worship leader based out of Greeley, CO. He has served in local church ministry for over 18 years. In 2007 he launched a music ministry, Red Letter Hero, a Christian band that served the church in worship leading for church services, camps, retreats, and conferences. The band was also able to be a part of Christian festivals, concerts, headline a tour, and work with many other Christian artists and producers.
In 2011 Chance began to offer his personal experience in worship leading, providing interim worship solutions, consulting, team building, nights of worship, conferences, and retreats. His ministry has proven to be an influence in uniting the body of Christ. As a singer/songwriter and worship leader, Chance has a refreshing and contagious leadership style that encourages believers from all church backgrounds to experience the presence and fullness of God. He is passionate about building up the local church and helping the church make a difference in the world.
