NFN Review Zone – THE ERWINS : This is Love. (Stow Town Records)

Texas-family group, The Erwins, return with 8 brand new songs on this studio recording. The opening “All of My Help” has already been released a single. The song showcases the great harmonies and lead vocals that The Erwins have become known for over the years.  The following “Already on His Way God” features some good brass sounds, but it’s those harmonies, again, that are the highlight of “The Blood of Jesus.” It’s a country ballad, akin to the likes of Lonestar at their best, with a great orchestral production. Similarly, “The God I Know” is just as powerful, both in its lyrics and vocal delivery. As is often the case with gospel groups, I’m a little disappointed in an album that is so short in length. I guess, its quality that counts, as opposed to quantity. Certainly, most of the songs on show are of quality. “The Story Ends” has a radio-friendly feel about it, while the title track has a touch of latter-day Dolly Parton about it! Looking back, there was only one song that I wasn’t keen on, but what I did like, left me wanting more.   9/10.

The Erwins Release “This is Love” Album

This Is Love, the highly anticipated new studio recording from GRAMMY-nominated, Dove Award-winning StowTown recording group THE ERWINS, has now been released. The eight-song collection showcases a genre-spanning sound which has quickly become synonymous with the Texas-based siblings.

Hallmarked by The Erwins’ tight family harmonies wrapped in modern musical influences, This Is Love was produced and arranged by Wayne Haun and features tracks penned by Kenna Turner West, Joseph Habedank, Sue Smith, Tony Wood, Dixie Phillips and Kevin Winebarger, among others.

Debut single “The God I Know” is a soaring ballad proclaiming Christ’s peace to a pandemic-weary world, “The God I Know” embodies the project’s thematic inspiration found in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

“We’ve bathed each of these songs in prayer as we selected and recorded them,” Keith Erwin shares. “It’s essential for us to consider three things with every project we record: we want to make sure Christ is magnified and glorified; that the sound of the album is authentic and something we personally enjoy; and that there’s a song for everyone. No matter someone’s age or what they’re facing in life, we hope our music reminds people of how much Jesus loves and cares for them.”

Sandra McCracken releases new anthem of peace and unity ‘I Am One’ featuring Citizens. Written with Zach Bolen and Stu G, this song was born out of a conversation of what it means to have union with Christ and membership with one another. Jesus prayed for us in John 17 “Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.” While our circumstances may be shaken up through the pandemic and pronounced political and social divisions, this song is a call to unity, with God and one another. The humble reality that we are more alike than we are different can be the beginning of redemptive conversations.

Vineyard Worship release new intimate worship single ‘The Hidden Place’. Written on Zoom as the world was simultaneously pushed into lockdown, songwriters Harmony Smith, Mitch Wong and Krissy Nordhoff felt compelled to express that even in the unknown, our hidden place with the Lord never changes. It explores vulnerability in worshipful expression; pondering on who we truly are when all is stripped back, in the place where God is speaking. Produced by the Emmy Award-winning producer Bobby Hartry (Jeremy Riddle, Brenton Brown), ‘The Hidden Place’ is a spacious track inviting listeners to embrace the promise of intimacy in the midst of difficulty. The song is interpreted by renowned Vineyard worship leader and songwriter Samuel Lane, whose powerful vocals lift the beautiful lyrical landscape to another level of meaning and personal experience. ‘The Hidden Place’ is a Spirit-breathed musical invitation to be at home with the Lord regardless of our circumstances.
