NFN review Zone – TIFFANY COBURN : You Are More. (Stow Town Records)

I, first, came across Tiffany’s great voice in 2019, and her “Near to the Heart” album. This project includes four of Gospel music’s top recording and touring artists: Point of Grace, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, The Isaacs, and a powerful duet with GMA Southern Gospel Artist of the Year, Joseph Habedank. The opening “Matchless” features Point of Grace, and it’s a lovey, mid-paced song. Solo, Tiffany treats us to “What If It’s Us,” which tells of a world of hope, if we push past the limits, and catch a new vison of love! “You are More” is a ballad that celebrates the fact that each one of us, is a child of God. Lovely orchestration, and powerful vocals from Tiffany. The duet with Habedank (Then There’s Me) reminds me of something from a Disney movie. The vocals are delicate, at times, yet boom, when needed. I like the way that the singer can turn her hand to different types of songs. Featuring, The Isaacs, if you didn’t know, you’d swear that Tiffany was part of the group. The country/southern gospel, foot tapper, “Nobody Knows Better Than Me,” is a super sound, complete with some great banjo playing. There’s no denying Tiffany’s vocal prowess, but I didn’t think that this selection of songs were, overall, as good as her previous release. Nevertheless, 7/10.

The Review Zone – Tiffany Coburn : Near to the Heart. (Stow Town Records)

Tiffany Coburn is no stranger to inspirational music. She is an accomplished vocalist having sung with several high profile groups including: Walt Disney World’s Voices of Liberty (for 20 years) and acappella supergroup Voctave. She has also been a background singer for Sandi Patty. This was a tricky album to review, as the CD was faulty. However, I’ve got to say straight away, what a terrific voice Tiffany has. From the opening “Praise to the Lord, The Almighty” she belts out the lyrics with tremendous aplomb. Backing comes from a fuill orchestra, and the sound is first class. “The Way of Love” is a little more mellow, with the piano leading the instrumentation. “Oh, no!” I thought, as “Not in My Strength” began. The haunting pipes sounded as though Celine Dion would burst in at any moment with “My Heart Will Go On.” Happily, the song is quite nice, in a Moya Brennan sort of way. I wasn’t too sure about the bluesy treatment to “Blessed Assurance” at first but, it grew on me. Again, Tiffany’s vocals just show what a great range she has. If you’re looking for a big ballad, with a big production then, “That’s What Love Can Do” is your song. Great arrangement here, for a song that tells how love can change the world. We just need to share it! Another highlight of this 9 song collection is the accapella “Near to the Heart of God.” Super lead vocals, and chorale backing that is simply delicious.  New versions of old songs and hymns won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I liked it!   8/10.
