This Joy was recorded live in Chicago. The eclectic mix of new worship songs was written by Vineyard leaders, for the Church, and blends a wide range of influences, from gospel to pop to modern hymns. The first gospel number comes from Tina Colón and Joshua Miller, and is the title track of the album. Complete with choir, hand claps, and a smattering of organ sounds, it would grace any gospel release. The following ‘Sing His Name’ and ‘Padre Nuestro’ are both powerful songs of worship, while I found ‘The Gospel’ to be rather a tedious plodder. One of the positive things about this live recording is that the production team have decided not to throw countless instruments into the mix, and this works well throughout. A prime example being the guitar led ‘Let Your Song Arise.’ It’s a super song and the music provides the perfect backing. The Clannad-esque ‘Every Moment’ has an atmospheric feel about it, while in contrast, ‘We Come Alive’ is a happy, bouncy pop song. While it’s never going to break new sound barriers, this recording is so much better than a lot of the new contemporary worship albums. 7/10.

Matt Redman releases ‘The Praise Is Yours’, the second single from his awaited 2023 live album. The new song carries Redman’s signature highly congregational, selfless, and reverential worship. Recorded at the historic Mission San JuanCapistrano, CA, ‘The Praise Is Yours’ is steeped in Scripture and seeks to paint a big picture of God in the midst of a culture that pushes away from grandeur and reverence. The narrative of God’s epic story runs through the song – His creation, the cross, and the life to come – and it is simultaneously saturated by His goodness and glory. Matt Redman‘s heart is to awaken the Church’s heart towards God’s majesty in worship, “We have a lot of ‘me and Jesus, here and now’ songs and there’s nothing wrong with that – in fact, it’s a beautiful thing – but not if that’s all we ever sing,” he explains. “Our songs need to remind us we don’t just worship the God of here, now and today […] but of yesterday, today and forever.”‘The Praise Is Yours’ was written by Redman alongside Andi Rozier, Travis Ryan, and Joshua Seller.
The joy of Christmas inspired Worship For Everyone’s festive single ‘Come Now And Worship’. The new song tells the Christmas story whilst focusing everything on the call to worship – from the appearance of the angels announcing Jesus’ birth to the arrival of the wise men, bowing down. ‘Come Now And Worship’ is a heartening reminder of the hope we have in Jesus, despite all the troubles of the world. Becky Drake from Worship For Everyone says that, “the chorus beckons us all to come and worship this Christmas time and to fix our eyes and hearts on the Saviour.” Musically, ‘Come Now And Worship’ is celebrational and congregational, reflecting Worship For Everyone’s passion to bring the whole Church together in worship as the family of God. “It is singable and accessible, with a catchy melody for the youngest among us, but with narrative and truth that will still capture the hearts of older members of the church,” Becky adds. ‘Come Now And Worship’ will encourage us to remember the reason of Christ’s coming and to keep our hearts on this truth.
REVERE releases the full collection of bilingual songs that was captured earlier this year during a night of unscripted worship with worship leaders from around the US, Brazil, and the UK in partnership with Brazil’s premier Christian label, Oni Music. ‘Unscripted Portuguese’ has been slowly unveiled over the last few months as the musical initiative made space for international worship leaders to minister in English and Portuguese. The sound that resonates in ‘Unscripted Portuguese’ is the worshipful unity from people of three different countries believing and proclaiming the greatness of God. This new album carries REVERE‘s legacy and highlights the beauty of international worship leaders getting together and exalting the name of the Lord. REVERE exists to refocus the Church back on the Lord by creating a Christ-focused experience for every tribe, tongue, and nation.

REVERE hosted their first songwriters retreat in the summer of 2021, gathering artists from the United States and South America to craft songs of intimacy and renewed devotion. The first batch of songs from this time, mixing new ones and revisited classics, is titled ‘Unscripted: Behold (King of Glory)’ as it focusses on contemplating – and indeed beholding – the Lord. Recorded live around a grand piano, the project’s diverse collaboration and unified pursuit of God creates an inviting and inclusive collection of songs, drawing the listeners into an encounter with the Holy One. By stripping back all sense of production, entertainment and control, REVERE allows for a fresh overflow of worship that pursues the heart of this ritual: to give worth to and honour our God. The core of the album orbits around the title track ‘Behold (King of Glory)’, written by Sarah Kroger, Dwan Hill, Jessica Hitte and Addison Bevere. This song creates space to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and express His greatness, a wonderful reminder at the beginning of a new year. ‘Unscripted: Behold (King of Glory)’ stands out for its multilingual expression (Spanish, Portuguese, and English) as well as its powerful and yet gentle sound. With this new full-length album, REVERE seeks to inspire the Church to embrace her purpose of wholehearted, selfless, and boundary-breaking worship again. To find out more about REVERE, click here.
The beauty of worship is first and foremost its purpose to glorify Jesus, but it’s also central in bringing us through all that we face in this life. When New Life Worship started thinking about a new album, the pain of our world felt overwhelming. During a climate full of hate and lies that elevated politics over truth and a news coverage littered with bad news about the global pandemic, racial tensions and violence, the Colorado-based team found refuge in the extraordinary gift of worship. ‘Our God Is Over All’ was written in less than an hour, as raw emotions fueled its crafting. Worship pastor Jon Egan says that it was “a visceral experience,” before adding, “my heart was engaged with the realities of the day, but even more engaged with the reality of God’s reign over all things.” New Life Worship are offering a brand-new song of holy defiance for the Church to sing with broken hearts and lifted hands alike. ‘Our God Is Over All’ encapsulates a cultural moment and beckons us to sing along about a reality that outshine grief and injustice! Over the last few years, throughout the sometimes hopeful, sometimes turbulent months, Vineyard Worship and Integrity Music songwriters from the USA and UK & Ireland responded with new songs that remind us that we are continually invited into a sacred space with our Living God. Despite our news feeds and the noise swirling around us, Vineyard Worship’s latest release, ‘Sacred Space’, captures the soundtrack of the Vineyard and Integrity creative community and chronicles a faithful worship journey through this ever-changing landscape of the world around us. ‘Thin Place’ – written by Adam Russell, Casey Corum (Vineyard Worship) and Taylor Leonhardt (Integrity Music) anchors the central theme of the record:
This is a thin place
This is where You meet with us
This is sacred space
This is where You meet with us
Holy ground, we are standing on holy ground
Just by being here with You Featuring an eclectic list of tracks that draw from a diverse range of projects (including Vineyard Soul: The Chicago Sessions and LoFi Vineyard), this compelling collection of songs highlight voices from around the Vineyard movement and also draw from the Integrity Music family. Deana Jay, Ryan Delmore, Taylor Leonhardt, Tina Colón Williams, Joshua Miller, Marc James, Cathy Burton, Rich Dicas and newcomers Tiadra Mickels, Chloe Edmonds and Olu Meduyoe lend their incredible voices to ‘Sacred Space’
NFN Review Zone – VINEYARD SOUL : The Chicago Sessions. (Integrity)
Vineyard Soul is the modern gospel expression from within the Vineyard Worship family. Recorded live in Chicago, ‘Vineyard Soul: The Chicago Sessions’ features the familiar and poignant vocals of Vineyard Soul powerhouses Tina Colón Williams and Joshua Miller. The former kicks things off with a gospel/rock number called ‘You Are God.’ Although I’m told that this is a new song, it had quite a dated sound, more akin to something that The Anointed Pace sisters might have produced. ‘Heaven’s Work’ follows in similar style, with a soaring guitar sound so low in the mix that I wondered what the point of it actually was? Miller takes the lead on the acoustic led ‘Expectation.’ Joined by other voices, he proves to have a warmth in his voice, which suits this mid-paced song of praise, well. The duo team up for ‘No Longer Strangers’ in which they sing “We are no longer strangers to your arms.” Of the six songs on this EP, this one was easily my pick of the bunch. An interesting collection. But, I can’t shake the feeling that this EP is trying to capture a sound of days gone by. Perhaps we’re in for a rock/gospel renaissance soon. 6/10.

Vineyard Worship presents its latest release, ‘Vineyard Soul: The Chicago Sessions’. Featuring ‘You Are God’, an upbeat, extravagant, joyful song of repentance and an electric faith declaration, and ‘Heaven’s Work’ ,a timeless prayer, calling us to be active participants in God’s Kingdom come and His will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, ‘Vineyard Soul: The Chicago Sessions’ is layered with rhythmic grooves and dynamic vocal arrangements. Produced by gospel heavyweights Calvin Rodgers & Phillip Feaster, ‘Vineyard Soul: The Chicago Sessions’ is a fresh and authentic sound capturing the heartbeat of the growing number of multiethnic churches in the Vineyard movement.
The new REVERE single is a stunningly warm revisitation of ‘How Deep The Father’s Love For Us’, a timeless anthem written by UK singer-songwriter Stuart Townend. The profound and poetic lyrics are wholeheartedly interpreted by Mission House’s Jess Ray on lead vocals and Taylor Leonhardt’s gentle singing joined with Zach Bolen’s (Citizens) powerful voice . This version of ‘How Deep The Father’s Love For Us’ is an emotion-filled one, marrying the truth of God’s unmatched love to our frail and needy hearts. With a stripped-back nature, it invites us to pause and meditate on the unfathomable goodness of the Lord’s heart for us. ‘How Deep The Father’s Love For Us’ truly is a song we all need to hear and sing.
‘Unser Vater’ is the first single and title track for ICF Worship’s upcoming EP. Translating as “Our Father” the song is inspired by the Lord’s Prayer, reminding us of the open-armed invitation to come to God and a declaration of faith in His unconditional love. Crafted from a place of “relentlessly seeking the Lord like never before,” as singer Luca Aprile says, the single leads to the heart of the Father from the first note. ‘Unser Vater’ opens on a chill note with a rhythmic backbone that evolves into ardent worship, each line declaring the life-changing love of our God. ICF Worship revisit the powerful song (previously released on album ‘Choose To Praise’) with fresh energy and passion flowing from the team’s undeniable experience of Divine Love.

Scottish folk worship band Celtic Worship release their first single ‘Come Thou Fount’ from highly anticipated new album ‘Morningtide’ coming in the autumn.
With a unique approach to worship blending traditional and contemporary Christian music with their native sonorities, Celtic Worship are celebrating the multifaceted beauty of the Kingdom of God! As with many songs that Celtic Worship are drawn to, ‘Come Thou Fount’ is a traditional hymn, originally written in 1758 by Robert Robinson.
And I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;
He to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood.
The words beautifully remind us that God is the One who takes initiative; He sought us when we were still strangers, rescued us, and takes us to arrive at home.
‘Come Thou Fount’ paints a huge and wonderful picture. Celtic Worship put their stunning arrangement together quite instinctively, making use of both vocalists Steph Macleod and Naomi Stirrat, who deliver warmth and power in each verse.
A beautiful instrumental melody is also weaved through by Mhairi Marwick on the fiddle and Scott Wood on bagpipes and whistle. The new Celtic Worship single is a striking taster of what is yet to come!
Celtic Worship recorded the music video for Come Thou Fount in Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland venue! Check out the trailer and set a reminder for the YouTube premiere later today at 7pm UK Time.
Vineyard Worship release ‘Roll Like A River’, the last single from forthcoming EP ‘Vineyard Soul: The Chicago Sessions’ coming on August 20th, 2021. This new song is a rallying cry and petition for God’s justice to flood and fill the cracks of our broken society. It ponders the empathy of our Saviour in facing abuse and oppression and equally exalts the unwavering hope found in Him. ‘Roll Like a River’ is a timely anthem, as the world frantically searches for answers and struggles with division in the process, the new Vineyard Worship track points to the effortless unity gushing from the Kingdom of God. Written in June 2020, shortly after the horrific death of George Floyd, ‘Roll Like A River’ literally flowed out of contemplation, prayer and conversations taking place between songwriters Joshua Miller, Tina Colón Williams and Mark Alan Schoolmeesters. Joshua Miller, one of the vocalists on Vineyard Soul tells of a clear theme emerging for the Kingdom to come in its fullness, “the idea of Justice, Mercy and Surrender are common realities of the Kingdom,” he adds. Marrying the beauty of these virtues with the ultimate example of selfless love – Jesus – taking on the cross-and Kingdom themes throughout the scriptures, ‘Roll Like A River’ came together as an ode to the hope we can have now for what is yet to come. Led by vocalist Tina Colón Williams, known for the warmth and power of her emotive voice, ‘Roll Like A River’ combines an irresistible approachability and intricate musical structures. The new single is soulful, joyful and truly infuses the listener with glimpses of the Kingdom of God.
