News From Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

Something Sad and Something Glad…

We have some news that most of you may have already heard about, but it bears mentioning here to the broader EHSS audience. Paul Harkey and I have been talking for some time now. And Paul has felt for a long time, the leading of the Lord to come off the road. He and I chatted and agreed that there is never a good time to do this since we are always working on new music and events. So, after 12 years of service to EHSS, Paul is coming off the road to pursue his personal interest at the end of May 2024. His last date will be our Signature Sound Fan Retreat in Sugarcreek, OH at the end of this month.

Paul and I also decided to treat this transition as a classy not sappy experience. We have nothing but love and HIGH RESPECT for Paul and his decision. HE IS OUR BROTHER, and we are #SigSoundFamForever! So, come out to our remaining shows and celebrate this servant of God and show your love and appreciation to Paul Harkey!

So with that being said, please help us welcome Christopher Taylor To The Signature Sound Family!

I have been asked many times how we find new talent. I have always responded with, “they find me.” That is the case with our new bass vocalist, Christopher Taylor. The week before Paul and I finalized this decision, Christopher came to one of our live shows and struck up an instant friendship with us all.

So, I called Christopher, and he joined us on tour for a couple of weekends and we all fell in love with him! His voice, spirit, energy, humbleness and most of all, love for the Lord and His people. We will have much more to say about Christopher later. However, you can meet him and welcome Christopher to the family on all the May tour stops (except Visalia, CA). He is traveling with us now and Paul is mentoring him. What a class act that Paul is!

Christopher’s first full concert with EHSS will be the “Memphis Quartet Show” June 15th, 2024 where we will be recording a live album. Make plans to come out and celebrate Paul Harkey and welcome Christopher Taylor!

Here we GROW again!

NFN Music Review – ERNIE HAASE & SIGNATURE SOUND : We Are the Church.   (Stow Town Records)

Ernie and the boys are back again, with their first new music of 2024. The anthem, which epitomizes the group’s mission, sounds a clarion call for believers to stand firm in faith amidst worldly despair. Ernie says: “I came to the table with this idea a couple of months ago, troubled by the way things are trending in our culture. While it seems we’re all on edge these days and the future is uncertain, I want to remind my brothers and sisters in Christ that we’re not called to fight for an earthly kingdom. We’re here to promote an eternal agenda, one that defines who we are and Whose we are-bought by the blood of Jesus. Because of that glorious truth, we can weather any storm.” The harmonies are apparent from the start, as the group sing their reasons behind the song the title. A picked banjo sound is in the background, while keyboards, guitars and percussion provides the rest of the backing. Bass, tenor, whatever the lead vocal, the overall sound is great. As the song reaches halfway, the pace picks up with some bras sounds adding to the music. Yet another fine song from this group.   7/10.

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound Remind Believers, ‘We Are The Church’

Gospel music’s premier quartet, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, is set to kick off the year with an impassioned new single, “We Are The Church,” releasing Friday from StowTown Records. In addition, the GRAMMY® nominated, Dove Award-winning group’s popular “Friday Night Sing” YouTube series will make its highly anticipated return February 2.

Inaugurating Ernie Haase & Signature Sound’s third decade of music and ministry, “We Are The Church” was penned by Haase, Sue C. Smith and Lee Black and produced by Wayne Haun. Choral and orchestral arrangements of “We Are The Church” will also be available for congregational use. The anthem, which epitomizes the group’s mission, sounds a clarion call for believers to stand firm in faith amidst worldly despair.

“I came to the table with this idea a couple of months ago, troubled by the way things are trending in our culture,” Haase shares of the song’s inspiration. “While it seems we’re all on edge these days and the future is uncertain, I want to remind my brothers and sisters in Christ that we’re not called to fight for an earthly kingdom. We’re here to promote an eternal agenda, one that defines who we are and Whose we are—bought by the blood of Jesus. Because of that glorious truth, we can weather any storm.”

Haase continues, “Jesus says in John 16:33, ‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’ No matter what the days ahead hold, we have this assurance. Who we are matters. We are the Church and it’s time to stand on that foundation.”

Subsequently, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are poised to launch the long-awaited third season of their popular “Friday Night Sing” series. Debuting February 2 at 7:00 pm ET on YouTube, the six-episode season will be highlighted by intimate acoustic performances from the quartet, as well as special greetings from Bill Gaither, The Oak Ridge Boys, Sandi Patty and Pastor Robert Jeffress, among other friends of the group. A new episode will premier every Friday evening through March 8.

Originating as a way for the group to connect with their fans during the pandemic, “Friday Night Sing” exploded in popularity, with many episodes amassing large audiences and new viewers tuning in from more than 30 countries. “We’ve heard people loud and clear from all over the world; they’ve missed the community we’ve built virtually from our living rooms to theirs on Friday nights,” Haase says of the show’s return. “The stories we share and the fellowship we have through this online format just isn’t possible to this extent on the road.”

“Last year while we were touring in Scotland, we met a family with five children who told us they looked forward to watching ‘Friday Night Sing’ each week,” he continues. “Despite the time difference, which meant they were viewing it live in the wee hours of the morning in Scotland, they wanted the opportunity to watch it together with everyone around the world. That means so much to us, witnessing people come together to share this unique experience.”

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound’s new single and “Friday Night Sing” reboot arrive on the heels of a watershed year for the group. Commemorating two decades of music and ministry in 2023, the quartet marked the milestone with the release of Live in Amsterdam: A 20th Anniversary Celebration last summer, and they shared the stage with the most awarded a cappella group in history, Take 6, for a showstopping performance during the 54th Annual GMA Dove Awards in October.

Album of Romantic Songs from Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound serenades listeners on Decades of Love, a 29-song, two-CD recording, slated for release on August 5 from Club44 Records. From the Beatles to the Bee Gees to Bublé, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound brings their smooth-as-silk stylings to some of the most loved romantic songs from the past 100 years. The group utilizes intricate harmonies, lush arrangements and consistently solid solo vocals to breathe new life into these classics.

Ernie Haase + Signature Sound give a new spin to the classic Chicago hit, “You’re The Inspiration.”

The beloved, four-time GRAMMY-nominated, vocal group’s intricate harmonies envelop the lyrics across lush instrumentation, guiding the listener through a journey of love and inspiration through music.

“We’ve always loved the band Chicago’s harmonies and music,” says Ernie Haase. “This felt like the perfect choice to honor the special ladies in our lives and help our friends honor whoever inspires them as they reminisce with fondness!”

Released in 1984, “You’re The Inspiration” has become one of Chicago’s most iconic songs. The song was originally written for Kenny Rogers with the lyrics being written in Italy by Peter Cetera and music composed by David Foster.

“You’re The Inspiration,” released on Club44 Records, is available now on all digital outlets.

Fourth Grammy Nomination for Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

ERNIE HAASE & SIGNATURE SOUND have garnered their fourth career GRAMMY nomination. The members of The Recording Academy honoured the talented ensemble’s release, Keeping On, with a nomination in the Best Roots Gospel Album category. This also marks Haase’s ninth GRAMMY nomination individually.

“To be honest, we are shocked,” says group founder, Ernie Haase. “At the same time, we are very honoured to be nominated for a GRAMMY, once again. Being in the same category with the Gaither Vocal Band, The Isaacs, Carrie Underwood and Harry Connick, Jr. is just thrilling! We have yet another blessing to be thankful for. We are so excited and grateful to still make a joyful noise to our Lord.”

The project–garnering rave reviews from American Songwriter, Parade and more–follows the album Something Beautiful, a tribute to the legacy of Bill and Gloria Gaither, which received a GRAMMY nomination. Ernie Haase & Signature Sound is also a GMA Dove Award-winning quartet, a radio favourite in the United States and internationally and a leader in CD sales and long-form music video sales with several RIAA(R)-certified Gold(R) and Platinum(R) DVDs.
