NFN Music Review – SALT OF THE SOUND : For All the Moments In Between.   (https://saltofthesound.com)

Salt of the Sound’s new EP is a collection of songs was inspired by the full experience of the human condition – through the emotions of joy and grief, during times of elation and loss, and in all the moments in between. Stemming from one of the most challenging yet simultaneously life-giving seasons of the duo’s lives, the music aims to capture the beauty and wholeness that emerges from the everyday. I’ve been a fan of this duo’s music for many years, and find their ethereal and ambient sounds to be both calming and relaxing, as well useful for personal prayer. Take, for instance, the delicate tones of Anita’s vocals, as they glide over the backdrop of simple keyboard and string pads. The sound is utterly beautiful on ‘Kyrie Eleison,’ – a very early favourite on this track listing. ‘Overflow’ features the addition of Simon Wester, musically, and there’s some tantalizing violin & cello sounds that I, simply loved. The overall formula for the tracks are similar, but they never sound alike. Even the predominantly instrumental ‘Through Tribulations (My Solace and Peace)’ stands high in its own right, with angelic vocals only appearing during the latter stages. ‘A Respite’ has an, almost, seascape sound to it, while the closing ‘Be Still and Know His Name (Even the Wind and the Waves) features more ambient sounds, with Anita’s soothing voice providing the perfect delivery, giving the listener to draw closer to God in prayer. Play the music quietly and immerse yourself in a period of time just for you and the Lord. I always look forward to a Salt of the Sound release, as Ben and his wife hit just the right musical spot for me. Seven brand new tracks on this mini-album, and it doesn’t disappoint.   10/10.
